This is a project that will take years to be accomplished! I think it’s one of the most ambitious travel plans that we have ever had.
I am referring to the UNESCO World Heritage List, which contains natural and cultural places that according to UNESCO are of special significance. There are more than 900 buildings, cities, monuments, forest, mountains, etc. in this list.
We can’t visit them all. And actually we don’t want to. The first reason is lack of time and money. Unless we win a lot of money with the lottery, of course. The second reason is that we want to focus on those places that are not so well known. Everybody has heard about Yosemite and Vatican City, but I bet that you don’t know all of the places in Belgium for example that are on this list. And to be honest, neither do I!
That’s going to change! Every time we visit one of these places, we will of course post it on the blog. You can easily find all these posts under the category “Our UNESCO project”.
Here is the link to the complete list: http://whc.unesco.org/en/list.
Looking forward to this – don’t forget France – lots of interesting sites there.
We live in Belgium, so it’s hard to ignore France
And we like traveling there, so just keep on following the blog!
I visited Alberobello, Italy because it’s a UNESCO site. I wanted to see the real Italy and avoid tourist mobs in the big cities. I think it’s a great way to pinpoint future travel destinations! I enjoy your blog. Keep it up.
Thanks for the kind comment!
I love the sound of this. We have visited a few of the sites on the world heritage list. Cinque Terre was beautiful and off the beaten track, but the residents did seem a bit shell shocked by the huge influx of visitors.
Thank you for your comment! Due to illness, I am a little bit behind with my posts, but normally we will post about our UNESCO project later next week
Great idea! I have visited a few of the UNESCO sites (ashamedly most of them well known ones) but would love to visit some of the lesser known ones, and aim to get started on this ASAP!
Where will you start? Thanks for stopping by and for following the blog!
This is so awesome! I am looking forward to it!
There are already two posts about it
Just look at related articles
And more are coming up!
This is great – I’ve only been to a few, but would love to hit them all!
What a trip that would be!
Sounds great, have fun!
We will!
Good luck with the UNESCO project. I’ve visited over 220 UNESCO sites and need to add my photos and memories to the online heritage.
220! How did you do that?
Thanks for following our blog!
I’ve been at it for a long time. http://tnot.es/UNESCO Added another two to that list last weekend, and if the weather holds tomorrow will add one more in Germany.

Such a wonderful idea ! I’ve been thinking about listing the UNESCO sites I’ve seen as well. There are so many of them.
Thanks! We have a lot of fun discovering all of them!
Is Croatia on your list? you won’t be disappointed!
We have already been in Croatia and plan to return!
have you been to Trogir? and Dubrovnik? are there any posts on your blog about this? thanks
No, not yet. You can see where we have been in Our Destinations.
Brilliant idea! I can’t wait to go to the UNESCO site and have a look at the list.
Everyone keeps asking us what our list looks like and we couldn’t decide…because, really, we just want to go everywhere! So, we thought the UNESCO sites list would give us a good starting point! And, living in Belgium, it’s so easy to hit up many of them! Looks like we’re in the same boat as you two!
Exactly! And we are not the other bloggers who are interested in the UNESCO sites!
I might be able to help with a couple of UNESCO places in my hood…Drottningholm and Birka. I have yet to get to Birka and it is only a few km from my home! Shall we collaborate a little?
We would love too, but don’t know when we will be in Sweden again.
Such a fantastic idea Ingrid! You’ve now inspired me to find the sites in my area – amazing that we don’t know where they are isn’t it? Thanks
You’re welcome!
Best of luck realizing this dream! It is ambitious, but without dreams we are dead inside
Rooting for you xx
Thanks!
