Road Tripping Europe

Discovering and photographing the unknown beauty of Europe

Inspired by music

Apart from traveling, The Viking and I have some other passions in common and one of them is music. Music can make you feel better, it can make you feel sad, it can bring back memories and it can inspire you. And we recently discovered that music also inspires our excursions and travels! So, join us for a musical tour!

This header photo reminds me of a couple of fabulous music-centric art exhibitions we saw in Tacoma, Washington a few years ago–one, at the Tacoma Art Museum, was a Trimpin installation that was essentially like a room-sized, funky contemporary bellows-organ you *entered*, and its compressor was programmed to play a number of ‘abstract’ pieces on all the pipes and horns in it, *or* you could manipulate the machinery to ‘play’ something yourself. The other was at the Museum of Glass and was a very cool and funny large contraption that looked to me like a big glass-container milking machine but also had blowers and moving parts so it played a weird kind of organ music as well. Loved it. (You may have noticed by now from a post or two over at my place that I’m a little bit of a pipe-organ groupie.) :)
