About us

The Internet brought us together: a Danish organ player (Lars) and a Belgian language teacher (Ingrid). We share the same passions: good food, (contemporary) art, classical music, movies, books, photography and … traveling.

There are many ways to travel. You can relax on the beach for two weeks. You can sleep during the day and go clubbing every night. You can travel in group and follow the guide. You can read a guidebook and visit all the places that are mentioned in it. Lars and I like to travel (a bit) differently.

That doesn’t mean that we despise people who travel in the ways I have just mentioned. It’s just not our way of traveling. We like to be on a beach from time to time, but not two weeks. We are too old to go clubbing and we don’t feel at ease in groups. And a guidebook doesn’t mention all the interesting places.

That’s what this blog is about: those places that are hardly mentioned in the guidebooks. Or not at all. We do go to popular destinations sometimes, but then again we try to go to where the crowds don’t go. But we have to admit that the Eiffel Tower is pretty awesome as well!

It’s our goal to show you that beauty can be everywhere. We like being on the road, taking it easy, discovering new destinations, admiring landscapes, visiting museums and tasting the local cuisine. Almost every day, we post about our trips and excursions, travel preparations, our UNESCO project and hotel reviews. Join us on our car trips to off the beaten track destinations!

Before Lars and I met, I traveled outside Europe as well. These destinations will be featured here regularly as well.
