Discovering and photographing the unknown beauty of Europe
After our tour in the winery, it was time to do some tasting! There is a huge area where all the products are displayed and where the tasting takes place.
But first things first: what grapes do they grow? This is the information I found on their website:
Rondo, Leon Millot, Regent, Cabernet Cortis. Orion, Madeleine Angevine, Zalas Pearl, Solaris.
In general, according to one of the employees of the vineyard, the white wines taste better than the red ones. But what exactly do they produce at Skærsøgaard Vin? According to their website, a lot!
Red wine, White wine, Rosé, Sweet dessert wine and Sparkling wine each year since 2001.
Furthermore, enriched wines, liqueur, grape- and fruit spirit, brandy, calva & Æbleau from own distillery. Established micro-distillery in 2007 with 250 liter copper pot and column-distillation for the production of grape brandy. Has established barrels in 2007 of the first Danish wine brandy (cognac-type).
According to articles in the Danish press, 2012 was not exactly a fantastic year for the Danish vineyards, because of the bad weather. And Skærsøgaard Vin had to deal with another disaster: 80% of their grapes got a disease and had to be thrown away.
One of the products that we tasted was the Æbleau, an apple wine. It was deliciously sweet!
