As I have told you yesterday, there are several Asian stores in the neighborhood of the Zwarte Lievevrouwestraat. Some of them sell food, others decorative objects. There is also a shop that sells anime and anything connected to it and other items of Japanese culture, like bento boxes. We tried to have a look around, but there were so many people in the small space, that we could hardly turn around. I did manage to take some pictures though.
The biggest surprise was an even smaller shop opposite the Kam Yuen Supermarket. It sells Chinese pastry and it immediately tickled our curiosity, since we had never seen anything like this before. Lars and I bought two items: a Chinese version of a small pizza and a bun stuffed with beef. We were so excited about it, that we immediately went home to taste them. It was already lunchtime anyway.
The pizza tasted a bit bland, but wasn’t too bad. It just looked better than it tasted. The bun on the other hand was really delicious! There was lots of beef inside and it was a bit spicy.
We forgot the name of the store, but since it’s the only one in this neighborhood, it’s not hard to find.
I love going places and eating things I can’t identify!
Seriously, it’s one of the fun things about going new places.
So do we!
We love eating the buns and pastries made by a Chinese bakery we have discovered. So much so we buy quite a stash whenever we are in the area. They are simply delicious!
I think next time we’ll more of them as well
Every time we sit down to eat at the bakery we try something new – it is a great way to discover new food
Those buns look wonderful, I love the ones with sweet bean paste inside. Delicious!
You are making me feel hungry
In that kind of store you want to buy everything, even the stuff you know you’ll never use! I love it, my wallet, on the other hand, doesn’t…
Neither does my wallet
