Road Tripping Europe

Discovering and photographing the unknown beauty of Europe

Going back via the German Moselle – Bruttig-Fankel

How could we stay away from our favorite village?

This is also a very old place, according to Wikipedia:

The oldest evidence of settlers in the area is the very well preserved barrows on the Bruttig-Fankeler Berg (the local mountain) along the so-called Rennweg, an old linking road between the Roman long-distance roads, over which today runs the “Archaeological Hiking Trail” (Archäologischer Wanderweg). According to information from the State Office for Care of Monuments in Koblenz, some of these barrows date back to the Bronze Age.

Winegrowing and tourism are the most important economic activities, with Riesling wines being the most popular ones.

It was the first time we were here in winter; Lars and I usually come here in all the other seasons, when it is a lot busier.

And it looks even prettier in spring, but then there are a lot more tourists!

Love the pics, but not crazy about the new set up. I prefer the scroll through the pics and then X-ing them out at the end. Now I have to use the Back browser button, numerous times to get back the main story. — YUR

It’s a good thing that you mention this. I still have some troubles with the new way we are supposed to upload the pictures. Will try to solve this!
