After 5 years, Lawrence and I have parted ways. After having traveled with me in 20 countries, he simply had enough of it. Lately he had become very tired and slow… He couldn’t handle it anymore. So, I granted him the peace and quiet, the rest that he needed…
Lawrence was my MacBook. And on Tuesday evening he went to Mac Heaven. I have to admit that I had seen it coming, but I was hoping that he would have lasted until the end of the year, let’s say until I had had my Christmas bonus, but no such luck… So, yesterday afternoon I bought a new PC. A new Windows PC.
So right now I am transferring thousands of pictures, hours and hours of music and a lot more stuff from the old to the new PC. And then there is the fact that after 5 very happy MAC years I have to get used to Windows again. And it sucked in the beginning.
Now, one day later, I am getting the hang of it again. Windows 7 isn’t that bad and at least I will be able to use Photoshop again. I also received a gift card, which I will probably use for an external hard disk. I will continue to take many many pictures and I have to store my old pictures somewhere else, that’s for sure.
And The Viking and I respected our tradition and have given a nickname to our newest electronic member: Babette. Today and the next couple of days there will be no posts on the blog. I want to take my time to reorganize all my stuff and to be honest, I am feeling a bit under the weather. But we will be back very soon!
So, goodbye Lawrence and welcome Babette! Join us and Oscar, Flat Ruthie, Elvira, Tadzio, Franz, Lulu and Bridget on our trips!
I;m so glad it’s not just me that gives everything a nickname
Get well soon
Thanks! I am feeling a lot better. The new PC is running very well and I am so happy I can blog again!
Look forward to seeing even more photos
And you will!
oh God… for a second I thought it was you & viking that parted ways
Glad your love story is still alive. Computers??? they come and go
Don’t worry! The Viking and I have promised each other to stay together for at least 68 years!
I really don’t know how we organized things in the “good old days” before computers. I get real withdrawal syptoms if we are cannot log in for a couple of days. In fact one of the key questions I ask at any accomadation or campground is “have you got connections” and I’m not talking about name dropping!!!
That sounds familiar!
I may have to say goodbye to my laptop soon…I’m hoping it can hang on for a while longer.
You somehow become attached to it, don’t you?
As sad as it is, I’m glad it won’t be slowing you down at all.
Good luck with the new laptop!
Thanks!
