On our way back to Nyborg, The Viking and I decided to do something that we had been talking about for a long time: visit a microbrewery. We had a look at Refsvindinge Brewery, which is situated between Ørbæk and Nyborg:
This brewery dates from the end of the 19th century and specializes in local and old beers, that can’t be found anywhere else in Denmark. Before buying beers, you can taste some of them. We discovered a very good ale and a beer with extracts of caramel and coffee! And of course, we bought a couple of bottles.
There is also a small stand, where you can buy home-made cheese as well. The man who makes them is actually Scottish! I bought some excellent cheddar, made from goat’s milk.
A very good discovery and a place that we will certainly visit again!
Here are the other pictures!
This is MY kind of stop. The beer with caramel and coffee sounds interesting…and good.
And it was good!
I completely in love with micro-breweries… would love to visit one in Europe and compare the difference with North America… by just looking at the pictures, the European seems larger with a bigger selection. Most micro-breweries here carry about 6-10 different kind of beers at a time!
You would have the time of your life in Denmark and certainly in Belgium!
Wow, so was this your first time ever in a microbrewery?
They are a big attraction here in the US, and quite a local industry in Portland and several other towns.
No, we have visited a couple of them in Belgium as well!
Now we’re talkin’, Kitten! — YUR
A fabulous find! I recently tried a Colorado stout made with espresso…delicious!
Yummy!
