Road Tripping Europe

Discovering and photographing the unknown beauty of Europe

Our Adaptable Adventure – The star of Tåsinge

Tåsinge is a small island to the south of Fyn/Funen. Most people flock to the beautiful small town of Troense and especially to Valdemars Castle. This small palace was built in the 17th century. It is open for visitors from May to October and has a toy museum, a chapel, a restaurant and a local maritime museum. Another important feature is its location; the palace is near the beach.

The Viking and I usually don’t visit touristic attractions, but it’s hard to ignore this place. And I have to admit that although I am not interested in castles, I liked its location near the sea a lot. Unfortunately, Valdemars Castle can be often very crowded. The family who lives there regularly organize all kinds of events to generate money for the maintenance of the buildings. When we were there, the weather was not too fantastic, which was probably the reason why there were not so many people around.
