We’re back in Brussels!
It’s odd to be back… On the one hand, it feels like it was only yesterday that I said goodbye to colleagues and students and left Brussels for our first stop in Germany. On the other hand, The Viking and I feel as if we had been on the road for months, probably because we have seen and experienced so much in one month.
Although we had a couple of small mishaps the last 2 days, we feel very happy. We left Belgium with some vague and exciting ideas, but with a lot of uncertainties and low expectations as well. But our enthusiasm grew when we discovered new places, tasted new food and drinks, saw awesome landscapes, conquered our fear of heights again, learned a lot about history and culture and met some interesting people. But best of all, The Viking and I were together the whole time and had lots of fun!
We also feel lucky! Lucky that the weather improved every day, lucky that we did manage to fulfill a couple of our dreams, lucky to have seen new countries as well! But the biggest feeling we have is gratitude.
We feel grateful that you, our followers, have not left us and we welcome the new followers as well. But the two persons to whom we are most grateful are The Viking’s mother and cousin. We are extremely grateful for their hospitality! Thanks to free lodging and our decision to go for self-catering, we could travel and explore and experience a lot more! We will honor you both by writing a special post about you on the blog and our novel will be dedicated to you as well.
The next days and weeks we will post about all the places we have been to. The Viking and I hope you will enjoy our stories and pictures as much as we have experienced our Adaptable Adventure!
As always, I love you approach to travel and the way you convey it to us.
Glad you had a good time, and hope the return isn’t too unsettling for too long!
Last year during our summer trip I was hospitalized, now it’s the car that needs to be fixed. We’ll be okay!
Welcome back!
