You can hardly look for bonfires without having had a nice snack before. Around 8pm The Viking, his mother and I were at the dining table, making and eating shrimp sandwiches with mayonnaise and lemon. In a fancy restaurant you would pay at least 30 euros for such a meal. We saved a lot of money by preparing everything ourselves, including peeling the shrimps. It was fun and tasty!
After having seen the bonfires in Kerteminde, we continued our drive to various places in the northeast of Fyn. It was simply amazing! Everywhere you could see bonfires. Everywhere. Not just near beaches, rivers and lakes. But also in the backyards. Near farms. In the middle of fields. And everywhere people of all ages gathered around the fires, with drinks and food, having lots of fun. It was like the whole island was burning! And when darkness came, the atmosphere became simply magical.
When we came back to Nyborg, it was almost midnight. The Viking and I were starving, so we continued with the meal. Shrimp sandwiches. Smoked salmon. Fried fish fillet. Lambrusco. And beer with schnapps. What a fantastic evening!
