… are not the same as Norwegian fjords. Actually, the word “fjord” has different meanings in the Scandinavian languages and dialects. I assume you all know what a Norwegian fjord looks like; otherwise, I suggest that you have a look at this picture.
In Denmark, the word fjord has got different meanings. According to Wikipedia, a Danish fjord can be:
Two years ago, when The Viking told me that he was going to show me Roskilde Fjord, I had very high expectations. I expected to see something similar like the picture above. I wasn’t aware that Denmark is a lot flatter than Norway .. So, what I saw, was quite different from my imagination and I have to admit that I was even a little bit disappointed! Now The Viking and I can laugh with this little misunderstanding and in the meantime, I have come to like these fjords very much. They may not be spectacular as the Norwegian ones, but they do ooze beauty and tranquility.
The pictures of today are from Roskilde fjord. Tomorrow, I will write about another fjord that we visited this weekend and publish its pictures.
The water looks so blue and beautiful.
Thanks, Colline! It is indeed beautiful!
I am quite sure the danish fjords have their own beauty, and the danish people are often so lovely. That counts too… Good luck in Denmmark.
I know that the Danish people are lovely, because my fiance is Danish
And the fjords are indeed beautiful, but I am looking forward to visit Norway one day!
Really beautiful there. Thanks for the photos.
You’re welcome!
Ah once had me a Spanish ford. Ah think they called it a Fiesta. — YUR
