Road Tripping Europe

Discovering and photographing the unknown beauty of Europe

Our top 10 hotels of 2011 – Number 8: Where is the hotel?

The only bad thing that we can tell about this hotel is that it is difficult to find! The name of the street and the name of the hotel are the same: Dwor Wapowce. And it is supposed to be located in Przemysl, which is in the southeastern part of Poland.

So, when we left Krakow and put the address of this hotel in the GPS, we were a bit surprised that it couldn’t find it. I had read in the travel guide that Przemysl was a small town, so maybe the hotel was located in a very small street. A dark and dangerous alley? Anyway, we were a bit confused. Luckily, I did have the address of the local tourist information office in Przemysl, so we decided to program this in the GPS. It worked.

Afterwards, it turned out that the hotel was not in Przemysl, but in a small village not far away, which was called … Dwor Wapowce. Yes, you read it correctly. The young woman at the tourist information told us that it’s a small village, with only one main street and one hotel. We couldn’t miss it. And we didn’t, since the hotel owners put a gigantic sign in the village :-)

And then we were very pleasantly surprised… The hotel consists of two buildings: the one on the left contains the reception and restaurant, the building on the right the rooms. It caters for weddings, parties, meetings and the like, but tourists are also welcome. Although it only has two stars, we thought that the rooms were comfortable, clean and not too small. There is free Internet and a very good – and cheap – restaurant. The main attraction however is the park where the hotel is situated and where you have several lovely views on the surrounding hills and valleys. The hotel is run by a young couple, who were very friendly and spoke English very well. We liked it so much, that instead of visiting Przemysl, we stayed in the park of the hotel all day!

Just an observation. Do you guys have a habit of always ensuring there is an H&M bag in one picture? Just noticed one in all hotels so far. :-) . I am asking as my SO and his friends had something like this going with smurfs (specifically smurfin) for years.

It must have been a coincidence, although we do have this bag with us on every trip, since it contains The Viking’s medication. Come to think of it, we have a lot of luggage with us, so it’s kind of weird that you always see the same bag on the pictures :-)

I love learning about all of these out of the way hotels.
